Dorothy C. DiProfio, 81, long time resident of Graham died Thursday at Alamance Regional Medical Center alongside family.
A native of Grafton, MA, Dorothy is the daughter of John Cobiski and Flora née Houghton, both deceased.
Dorothy is the wife of John William DiProfio Sr. and is survived by him and their five children, Rae Moreland, Barbara Perrigo, John DiProfio, Jr., David DiProfio and Lisa DiProfio.
Dorothy and John have eight grandchildren, Sydney, Collyn, and Michael Sheaffer, Barbara's children; Anna Moreland, Rae’s daughter; Mia, Molly and Jack DiProfio, David’s children; and John William DiProfio III (Liam), John Jr.’s son.
In the early 1950s, Dorothy moved from the Worcester MA area to Lowell, MA to live with her sister Shirley Camden (deceased). Dorothy was an account billing manager at the Lowell Gas Co. It was in Lowell that she met her future husband, John. The couple moved to Pennsylvania and then to North Carolina with their children. After her children were raised Dorothy reentered the work force and subsequently retired from her position as office manager of KCI cell tower Erection Company of Hillsborough. Dorothy enjoyed gardening, cooking and spending time with family.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Graham, NC with Father Briant Cullinane, officiating. A private burial will be held at Phillips Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Salvation Army, P.O. Box 1238, Burlington, NC 27216 or to the Susan G. Komen, Dept. 41831, P.O. Box 650309, Dallas, TX 75265.
