Don Clinton Allred, 81, passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2017 surrounded by his family at Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell. A native of Alamance County, he was born on August 10, 1936 to the late Everett Julian Allred and Daisy Farmer Allred. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Burke Allred.

He graduated from Williams High School in 1954 and then from Elon College in 1958 with a degree in Business Administration. Upon graduating college, he taught Mathematics and General Science with both the Davidson County School system (from 1958 to 1961) and then the Burlington City School system (from 1961 to 1968 at Turrentine Middle School). He joined Western Electric/ AT&T Technologies/ Lucent Technologies in 1968 and retired in 1994 after serving as Human Resources Manager. After his retirement, he worked part time at Hunt Electric Supply as well as the Burlington Honda auto dealership.

He was a life long member of Hocutt Memorial Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School, was a member of the Hines Bible Class and served as a Deacon. Most recently he attended Holly Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include his son, Keith Allred (Karoleigh) and daughter, Caroline Allred Parker (Kevin); grandchildren Burke and Ashleigh Allred and Michael and Lillian Katherine (Lilli Kate) Parker; brother David Allred (Nell); nephew David Allred Jr. (Sallie) and niece Amy Allred Hester (Mark); great nieces Madeleine and Ainsley Byrd.

The family would like to give a heartfelt thanks to his in home care givers (Vanessa Worth, Dorothy Thame, Sierra Worth, Doris Badgett, and Sheila Worth), as well as all the staff at the Hospice House.

The family will receive friends from 1:45 until 2:45 PM on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at Rich & Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Burlington followed by a Memorial Service at 3:00 PM in the Rich & Thompson Chapel. A private burial will be held at Alamance Memorial Park. At other times, the family will receive friends at the home of Keith and Karoleigh Allred at 2904 Forestdale Drive, Burlington.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Alamance-Caswell 914 Chapel Hill Road Burlington, NC 27215
