Billy Roy Watkins

Mr. Billy Roy Watkins, 72, of Burlington passed away at his residence on Tuesday, September 19, 2017.

A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Linda Hayes Watkins, who survives and the son of Roy Zell Watkins and Nellie Faye Drake King, both deceased. Mr. Watkins was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam War. Billy was retired as a truck driver, a former crew chief for Ronnie Sox and was an officer for the Haw River American Legion, Post 427.

In addition to his wife of the home, survivors include a son, Brian Watkins and wife, Heather of Haw River; two step-sons, Paul Hayes and wife, Cindy of Mebane and Glenn Lineberry and wife, Leesa of Snow Camp; and three grandchildren, Josh Lineberry, Robbie Watkins and Gracie Watkins.

Mr. Watkins was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Jean Carrol Maness and Peggy Janell Johnson.

The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Graham on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 12:00 noon by Rev. Laure Kalau. Burial will follow at Alamance Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham on Friday, September 22, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Other times they will be at the residence.
