Bertha Mae Fuqua Steelman

Mrs. Bertha Mae Fuqua Steelman, 97, of Burlington died at her residence on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at 5:55 p.m.

A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late George W. Steelman and the daughter of James Robert Fuqua and Emma Evans Fuqua, both deceased. Mrs. Steelman retired from Tower Hosiery and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include three nieces, Shirley F. Howard and Donnie Pope Willis (Bill), all of Burlington and Lynda Howell Allred (Bill) of Graham; one niece-in-law, Nadine S. Fuqua of Burlington; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Lala F. Howell and Jessie F. Pope and five brothers, Carl Fuqua, Clarence Fuqua, Connie Fuqua, Loftin Fuqua and Joe Fuqua.

The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. by Rev. Bobby Fann with the family receiving friends from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in Alamance Memorial Park.
