Angela Butler Richmond

Angela Butler Richmond, “Miss Angie,” went home to the Lord on Thursday, July 13th, 2017 at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro. Angie was a lifelong resident of Caswell County. She was the daughter of Cecil McNeil Butler and Sharon Phelps Butler. She is survived by husband of 24 years, John Howard Richmond II, twin sons, Trey and Cameron Richmond, daughter Catherine Richmond, and future daughter-in-laws Karen Reynolds and Rebecca Allen, and the most recent joy of her life, grandson, Laken McNeil Richmond. Other surviving family members include sister Kelly Butler Chapman and husband “Artie” Chapman (Lillian, Sarah, and Joseph); brother Sam Butler and wife Joan Butler (Garrett and Mary Madison); mother-in-law Pat Brown Richmond, sister-in-law Tami Richmond Brown and husband Chris Brown (Alex and Abbey). Aunts, uncles, and cousins too numerous to list.


Angie attended Piedmont Academy, Bartlett Yancey High School, East Carolina University and Alamance Community College. She worked for Eckerds Pharmacy, Caswell County Schools, and most recently for Clover Garden Charter School. She served as a bus driver for both South Elementary and Clover Garden for over 15 years. She was the founder of the Clover Garden Library, Museum in the Schools, the Living Lab, and many other programs at Clover Garden. She successfully secured multiple grants, a distance learning collaboration with the NC Museum of Science in Raleigh, and multiple NC Envirothon Teams. Angie also was an active and faithful member of Griers Presbyterian Church, Leasburg. She was serving an active term as Clerk of the Session. She actively assisted with Building and Grounds and she lived each day to serve the Lord by helping others. Her unselfish giving was most recently exhibited by the fact that she was an organ donor.


The family will receive friends at Rich and Thompson Funeral Service in Burlington from 6-8 pm on Saturday, July 15, 2017. A service will be held at Griers Presbyterian Church (569 Griers Church Road in Leasburg, NC) at 3 pm on Sunday and interment will follow at Hebron United Methodist Church (In the Hightowers Community). Family members are also receiving visitors at 5762 Rascoe Dameron Road, Burlington, NC (In the Baynes Community).
