Alan Milford Irwin

Alan Milford Irwin passed away on May 8th, 2023 peacefully in his sleep.  Alan was born on August 12th, 1944 in Fairbury Illinois to the late Milford Charles Irwin and the late Ruth Beryl Irwin.  He retired from General Dynamics at the age of 56.  He went on to work as an independent inspector for Quicktrac for 20 years.  He enjoyed his jobs and had many, many fond memories of his coworkers.

Alan married Kathleen Kay Livingston in Indianapolis Indiana in 1966.  He went on to serve proudly in the U.S Navy on the U.S.S. America.  He was blessed with two loving sons Keith Alan Irwin of Martinez, GA and David Brian Irwin of Knoxville, Maryland.

Alan was involved in many activities.  He enjoyed coaching his boys in sports, and was an active member of the Alamance Region Antique Car Club as well as the Civitan Club which helps the community.  He was also a past President of the Bellemont Methodist Church Men's Group.   Last, but certainly not least, he was an active runner and competed in the State Senior Games in Track and Field.  He currently holds numerous state records in his age groups for the many races that he competed.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Kathleen and his two sons, Keith and David (Heather) and adored by his Grandchildren Landon, Davis, and Sara Eve.   In addition, he is survived by his sisters; Kay (Harold) Lindley, Bette Jane (Bruce) Otto, Colleen (Jim) Browning and his brother Gary (Sue) Irwin, and a sister in law Diane Irwin.  Also surviving are many, many nieces and nephews who loved him. He was preceded in death by his brother Bill Irwin.

Services are scheduled for Friday, May 12th at Bellemont United Methodist church at 2:00.  The family will welcome visitors at 1:00 for visitation.  Burial will follow the service at the Bellemont Church Cemetery.
