Edwin Russell "Ed" Hanford
July 24, 2010Burlington – Mr. Edwin Russell “Ed” Hanford, 90, of 1880 Brookwood Ave., Apt. 219, Burlington, passed away at 1:10 PM, Saturday, July 24, 2010 at the Village at Brookwood.
A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Emma Lou F. Hanford, who survives of the home and son of the late Edward R. Hanford, Sr. and Ava Mae Russell Hanford. Mr. Hanford retired as Secretary/Treasurer of Hanford Brick Company, Inc., was a member of Front Street United Methodist Church, a US Navy Veteran, and a former member of the Kiwanis Club of Burlington.
Surviving other than his wife, are a daughter, Julie H. Lefew and husband Gary of Burlington; a grandson, Lucas N. Carter of Burlington; a step-daughter, Lynn C. Qualls and husband Harvey F. of Burlington; a step-son, Kim Claar and wife Terri of Elon; three step-grandchildren, Justin Qualls, Elizabeth Qualls and Brittni Anderson; five nephews and two nieces. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Edward R. Hanford, Jr., , Talmadge Thornton Hanford and Baby Lewis Hanford; four sisters, Evelyn Nesbit Haney, Christine Coggins, Elizabeth Talley and Baby Edna Hanford; and a grandson, Aaron David Carter.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, July 27, at Front Street United Methodist Church with Rev. Marshall Old officiating.
The family will receive friends in the Heritage Room at the church immediately following the service and other times at the residence.
