Betty Jean Snead, 83, of 2636 Berkley Road, Burlington died at Liberty Commons on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at 2:00 a.m. following a lengthy illness.

A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Berkley Snead and the daughter of Worth E. Baker and Mary Allene McVey Baker, both deceased. She was a retired nursing assistant and a member of New Hope Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Cheryl Lambert of Bermuda Run, NC; a son, Bobby Snead of King, NC; a sister, Doris Patterson of Graham; two grandchildren, Rodney Lambert and Nathan Snead; and two great-grandchildren, Anna Lambert and Emily Lambert.

She was preceded in death by a son, Gerald Snead and three brothers, Winfred Baker, Broady Baker and Lindsay Baker.

The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. by Rev. Randy Hobbs with the family receiving friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at Magnolia Cemetery.
